Red View puts forward 10 reasons why United are Premier League
champions for the 10th time:
1. Home Rule
Sir Alex Ferguson has spoken in recent seasons about the need to
re-establish Old Trafford as a fortress. It’s safe to say that mission
has been accomplished this term. Aside from Reading’s opening day bore
draw and the horror of February’s defeat to Manchester City, United
have beaten all comers in M16, winning 17 out of 19 games.
2. Leaving It Late
Opposing teams expect to be on the rack in the closing stages of
games, and stats show that United are at their deadliest in the final
15 minutes of games. Most telling in this season’s title race were two
dramatic strikes from Carlos Tevez – a tap-in at Tottenham and a
priceless header at Blackburn in April.
3. That Boy Ronaldo
While the winger himself is ever-eager to point out that it’s not a
one-man show, United fans have been privileged to watch a genius at
work this season. Almost always at his unplayable best, Ronaldo has
plundered goal after goal, overtaking records in the same way he plays
- left, right and centre.
4. Defence
For all the plaudits lavished upon the Reds’ star-studded attack, the
platform for this season’s success has been built on a miserly
defensive record. Despite being without skipper Gary Neville all
season, United’s backline registered 20 domestic clean sheets – the
finest defensive record in the Premier League.
5. Big Game Hunters
Until April’s defeat at Stamford Bridge, United’s record against the
members of the ‘Big Four’ was almost unblemished. Ever able to raise
themselves for the big games, the Reds beat Liverpool twice, took four
points off Arsenal and beat Chelsea at OT, taking 13 points from a
possible 18.
6. New Boys
The near-instant assimilation of four summer arrivals was key to
United’s title triumph. The young Portuguese-based Anderson and Nani
proved themselves as players for now, not just the future, while the
more experienced Hargreaves and Tevez were integral to the Reds’
late-season surge.
7. Squad Depth
Last season’s bid for a second Treble was left in tatters by injuries.
Eager to avoid a repeat, Sir Alex made new signings and brought back a
host of youngsters to bolster his squad. The move worked wonders, with
every squad member contributing when injuries hit – just recall Ben
Foster’s heroics at Derby for example.
8. Experience
For all the free-spirited youthfulness of United’s play, the calmness
of some sage old heads has been an influential factor. Off the field,
Sir Alex Ferguson and his coaching staff have been there, done it
enough times to keep everybody grounded, while experienced players
like Rio Ferdinand, Edwin van der Sar, Paul Scholes and Ryan Giggs
brought vital know-how at fraught times.
9. Bouncing Back
The mark of champions is to respond positively to setbacks, which is
exactly what United did all season. Every time questions were posed by
a domestic defeat – Manchester City (twice), Bolton, West Ham, Chelsea
– the Reds responded with a victory.
10. Attack, Attack, Attack
Much was made of the contrast in the title chasers’ styles. Pragmatic,
robotic Chelsea doing battle with swashbuckling, easy-on-the-eye
United for the grand prize. Had the rivals finished on the same number
of points, then goal difference would have won it for the free-scoring
Reds.

All you`ve got to do is BELIEVE!!!
Manchester United truly gave their best against Barcelona in the 2nd leg of the UEFA Champions League Semifinals and a vintage wondergoal from veteran Paul Scholes sends the Red Devils to the final in Moscow. Park, Nani, Tevez, Brown, Rio, Edwin, each and every one of them giving their heart and soul on the pitch, encouraged by the huge crowd that truly turned into a sea of red and white, singing along and cheering their heros. This is the stuff that dreams are made of, and they can only be made at Old Trafford, the Theatre of Dreams.
UNITED ARE GOIND TO MOSCOW!!!

The Reds played a poor first half of football at Ewood Park and Roque Santa Cruz gave Blackburn the lead after a mistake in United`s defense. United missed many chances and were heading towards their first defeat since Porthsmouth in the FA Cup.
They kept pressing on in the second half with Wayne Rooney, Cristiano Ronaldo and Nani barely missing the goal. Coupled with Friedel`s incredible saves it really looked bad for the Red Devils but then Carlos Tevez headed home a vital equaliser in the 88th minute and United got that all important 3 point lead over Chelsea before the match at Stamford Bridge next Saturday.
Final score: Blackburn Rovers – Manchester United 1-1

Manchester United secured a 6 point lead over Chelsea after beating Arsenal 2-1 at Old Trafford.
Both teams had the chance to open the score in the first half, but saves from Edwin van der Sar and Jens Lehmann denied Adebayor and Rooney the goal in the first 45 minutes. Rio Ferdinand had shown Sir Alex Ferguson that he is worth all the money Manchester United payed for him by blocking numerous Arsenal attacks.
However Arsenal opened the score soon after the begining of the second half when Adebayor headed the ball past a surprized Edwin van der Sar. United quickly leveled the score though after the referee gave a penalty for Gallas` handball in the box. Ronaldo swiftly transformed the spot kick scoring his 38th of the season.
Sir Alex put on Anderson and Tevez to surely secure a win and such did happen when Owen Hargreaves bagged a free kick from 20 metres and Arsenal were finally outgunned.
Cristiano Ronaldo showed his class again in added time by dribbling Hoyte such that the Arsenal defender recieved a yellow card. United`s game was delightful late in the game. They knew what they wanted and they took it, no more, no less, a classy win against the gunners to close down on the title.
Final score: Manchester United – Arsenal 2-1

Sir Alex Ferguson put on a starting eleven made out of more reserves than regular 1st team players, giving everyone of Manchester United`s stars a chance to shine. United were already with one foot in the semifinals of the UEFA Champions League, after a 0-2 win at Rome.
Despite Rooney and Ronaldo being left on the bench, United`s offensive intent was still kept alive by Anderson, Ji-Sung Park, Carlos Tevez and Owen Hargreaves, who had the two biggest chances of the first half of the game. Roma was yet again dominated by Manchester United, rarely they managed to lead a counterattack, yet they were awarded a more than questionable penalty in the 30th minute which De Rossi missed, ending Roma`s re-lit hopes.
Carlos Tevez finished the job off in the 70th minute after heading in a ball crossed by Hargreaves, from less than a feet above the ground. Wayne Rooney came on and immediately had a shot at goal and later United`s captain Gary Neville, who has been out for more than a year due to an injury also made his appearance at Old Trafford, greated by 74.000 Mancunians.
Final score: Manchester United – AS Roma 1-0

Wayne Rooney saved a point for his team and avoided defeat this Sunday on the Riverside against Middlesbrough. The match began with United dominating, and Cristiano Ronaldo scored his 37th goal of the season in the 10th minute of the game after Michael Carrick dribbled his man following a corner and rolled the ball in front of the Boro goal. United kept on creating chances, but they didn`t capitalize on them and Middlesbrough leveled the score in the 35th minute thanks to Afonso Alves.
It was the same brazilian that gave Boro the lead in the second half, when United`s defense was crumbled by the Tuesday loss of Nemanja Vidic, Rio Ferdinand`s early exit, which seemed to be due to an injury, and the poor weather conditions. The Red Devils just couldn`t get their game together at the moment, but Sir Alex Ferguson`s experience made the difference again, when hr put on Ji-Sung park in Tevez`s place and the south korean quickly served Rooney on a plate, after crossing in front of the goal, it was a mere formality for Wazza to flick the ball into the goal. United kept on trying and so did Middlesbrough, but neither side could retake the lead.
Final score: Middlesbrough – Manchester United 2-2

Manchester United took a huge step towards the Uefa Champions League semi-finals, and implicitly to the final in Moscow, by beating AS Roma 0-2 in Rome.
In the first 30 minutes the match was mostly a strategic midfield battle with few chances, the most notable event in the first half an hour being Vidic`s knee injury, Sir Alex Ferguson being forced to take him off and put John O`Shea on. Despite the defender`s injury, our back line was as solid as concrete due to Rio Ferdinand`s efforts and Wayne Rooney`s occasional and much welcomed help.
Then United`s tipical domination started to take roots, the Red Devils keeping the Roma squad in their own half. Despite the Giallorossi`s best efforts, it was United who opened the scoring in the 39th minute through Cristiano Ronaldo, who headed home a cross from Paul Scholes from inside the box. Ronaldo is taking steps towards Denis Law`s 46 goals in a season record, scoring his 36th of the season in all competitions.
In the second half Roma started more offensively but their efforts were stopped by the United defenders and goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar and in the 66th minute Wayne Rooney crushed all of Roma`s dreams by scoring for 0-2 after Ji-Sung Park`s cross slipped through Roma goalkeeper Doni`s hands and right onto Rooney`s foot.
After the second goal Roma totally colapsed. Their defense were almost as inexistent as in the Old Trafford semi-final leg last season. Ronaldo, Carrick and Rooney could have made the score even worse for Roma.
Final score: AS Roma – Manchester United 0-2

Yesterday English Premier League Champions Manchester United met Aston Villa in the 32th round of the premiership at Old Trafford. United clearly dominated, created plenty of chances and scored 4 wonderful goals while conceding none.
In the 17th minute of the game Cristiano Ronaldo scored his 35th goal of the season with his heel following a cornerkick. United quickly doubled the score as Carlos Tevez headed one home from Ronaldo`s cross in the 33th minute, following a Manchester United break-away, the ball following the Tevez-Rooney-Scholes-Ronaldo-Tevez line.
In the second half Ronaldo showed us all that his heel was still hungry for goal as he flicked the ball over to Rooney, who calmly dribbled Aston Villa goalkeeper Scott Carson and placed the ball in the empty goal. This was a very important goal for Wayne Rooney as he hadn`t scored a goal on Old Trafford since last year, at it was great to lift the frustration, because Rooney, even when he isn`t popping in goals all the time, is an extremely valuable asset to the Reds.
But Wazza wasn`t finished either, and in the 70th minute he made the score 4-0 in United`s favour as he placed the ball in the low corner from 12 metres after a pass from… well, who else, Cristiano Ronaldo.
Rooney was denied his hattrick by the referee minutes later for a goal scored while being just off side.
Final score: Manchester United 4 – Aston Villa 0
